This rich, red salve is made using warming, pain-reducing cayenne, nerve-pain reducing St. John's Wort, warming ginger, muscle-soreness reducing arnica and an essential oil blend that provides its own healing heat. Cayenne has been used as both food and medicine for over 9,000 years; its active ingredient, capsaicin, has pain relieving properties when applied to the skin. Capsaicin works to reduce pain by blocking or lessening the level of substance P, a neuropeptide that travels to the brain to signal pain. Both cayenne and ginger stimulate blood flow, increasing circulation and healing to affected areas; our warming essential oil blend also promotes relaxation and stress-reduction, helping to ease tightly-bound muscles.
